You own good shirts. You press them on Sunday, or you do not, and on Wednesday you wear whichever one looks least creased. By Thursday the good ones are at the bottom of the basket and you are back in the same polo you wore last week.
Fermo is the answer to that specific Thursday. It is the shirt you reach for when you have not planned anything, and it is the one that still looks right at the end of the day.
Cotton is treated with a cross-linking resin that holds the fibres in position. It works from the first wear and it keeps cotton feeling like cotton. It is also a finish sitting on the cloth rather than part of it, and finishes wear down with washing. Most non-iron shirts at every price point use this route.
The shape memory comes from the fibre and the weave rather than something added afterwards, so there is nothing to wash out. It usually means a blended cloth rather than pure cotton, which changes how the shirt breathes and how it takes a crease at the collar.
